Giving Back to the Community

Feed My Starving Children
The Oakland Eagle Boosters hosted two volunteering activities at Feed My Starving Children in November, 2019.  We had about 50 Boosters volunteers at each date so the Eagle's vibe was soaring!

Thursday night we packed 84 boxes of their nutritious MannaPack™ meals specifically designed to assist in reversing and preventing malnutrition. That equates to 18,144 meals and 49 children who will be fed for a year.

Saturday afternoon we packed 94 boxes of a the MannaPack™ Potato-D, the first and only relief food to combat diarrhea, a leading killer in areas with poor sanitation. It’s not a medicine, but it slows fluid loss so the child can survive while medical treatment is delivered. The 94 boxes equates to 56,400 meals.

Feed My Starving Children is located at 742 E Park Ave, Libertyville, IL 60048.  Click on Feed My Starving Children for more information.
Oakland Eagle Boosters Food Drives
We support the Open Arms Mission, a local 501c charitable organization.  They serve our neighbors in need with 89 cents of every dollar donated going to local families.

The Oakland Eagle Boosters helped Oakland with a December 2020 food drive where our amazing Oakland families donated 850 pounds of food and miscellaneous items!  This made it possible for Open Arms to feed families with Senior and children for at least two full days.  Read the gracious thank you letter from Open Arms below.

The Oakland Eagle Boosters did an awesome job supporting our neighbors in need by hosting a food drive the week of November 11-15, 2019.  We collected 221 non-perishable food items and then donated the collected good to the Open Arms Mission in Antioch, a 501c charity.

 Bernie's Book Bank
Ahead of the Book Fair, Oakland Eagle Boosters collected books to donate to Bernie's Book Bank. We had a  pretty big goal....1,500 books!  But our parents and families came through like the amazing Eagles they are and we collected over 2,500 books!!!

All for Books Coin Challenge
The week of February 24, the Boosters supported the All for Books Coin Challenge.  Students brought in pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, dimes on Wednesday, quarters on Thursday, and dollars on Friday.  Teachers were then able to use the money collected from their classrooms to spend at the book fair for classroom books.  This activity raised $2,229 dollars for teachers to buy books at the book fair to use in their classrooms.  Way to go, little Eagles!
